CLOSING THE GAP IN TEMPORARY HOUSING AND LIVING COST SUPPORT
FOR LUNG TRANSPLANT PATIENTS & CAREGIVERS IN FINANCIAL CRISIS

How we help

We provide lung transplant patients and caregivers with emergency financial support and access to practical resources.
Picture
LT Housing Support provides up to $5,000 in emergency funding to patients and caregivers in need.
While the BC Ministry of Health covers a lung transplant patient's medical costs, the patient and their caregiver are required to shoulder any pre and post-transplant travel as well as temporary housing and living costs related to their transplant.  All BC lung transplants take place at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH). For patients who reside outside the city, this temporary housing requirement can create a cripplingly, if not impossible financial burden.

Why donate? No one says it better than LT Housing Support grant recipient Trevor and spouse/caregiver Lenora
"To hear there was an organization willing to provide us with financial support gave Trevor and I such relief at one of the most difficult times in our lives.  We'd done the best we could to shoulder all the transplant costs that typically fall to an out-of-town patient and caregiver. But the costs to rent and live temporarily in Vancouver for several months while Trevor got better, on top of managing our home, work, and taking care of elderly parents back in Quesnel, was just more than we could manage.  We can't put into words how grateful we were LT Housing Support was there for us," said Lenora.  Photo:  Recent lung transplant recipient Trevor alive and well at home in Quesnel, living 'a beautiful life' emailed Lenora!
